Highspeed CEO, Receives National Awards

Highspeed Group CEO, K.M. Mahmood Ur Rahman receives “POET SAROJINI NAIDU MEMORIAL COUNCIL GOLD MEDAL AWARD” on Thursday 29th July, 2010 at Osmani Memorial Auditorium from the Honourable President of Bangladesh for his outstanding achievement and notable contribution to the shipping and shipbuilding sector of Bangladesh.

In 1979, the top Management of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES), Japan, headed by Dr. K. Maeda, President (Mr. M. Tomosada, Director, Mr. M. Miyakushi, Dy. Director), and that of Highspeed Group (Group Captain Rashid, Mr. A.M. Talukder, Mr. Ahmed) led by Mr. K.M. Mahmood-ur Rahman, signing the Joint Venture agreement of the largest Private Shipbuilding & Heavy Engineering project at the office of the Highspeed Group at 10, JBC Building, Dhaka.

Top management of Highspeed Group are seen in a meeting. Mr. K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman, Chairman, Capt. Ahsan Aziz Shelley (Retd), Executive Director, Mr. Nazmee J. Chowdhury, General Manager (Shipping), Mr. K. Z. Siddiqui, General Manager, Mr. Mirzanul Islam Azad, Manager (Admin.) & Chief Co­ordinator are participating in the meeting in recent time in the present office premises at 103, Motijheel Commercial Area, Dhaka. (Capt. Ahsan Aziz Shelley (Retd) is the Director in charge of Chittagong operations).

The members of birds & Highspeed Marketing Team are in a meeting with Mr.K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman. CEO, and Ms Saima Rahman, Director. Birds Bangladesh Agencies Ltd. happens to be one of the oldest and leading shipping Agency Houses in Bangladesh which represents world’s largest shipping lines i.e. Mitsui OSK lines, Senator Lines, among other tramp Lines of Japan. Birds offer world-wide container service for import & export of all kinds of containerized cargo.

Ltd, held at the office of Highspeed Group of Companies in 1980. Dr. K. Maeda, President, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES) and Mr.K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman, Managing Director, Highspeed Shipbuilding & Heavy Engineering Co. Ltd, are seen together. The Directors of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES), and Highspeed Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. also Participated in the meeting. Group Captain Taher Quddus, Operation Director, Mr. Syed Monsurul Hoq, Chairman of Highspeed Shipbuilding & Heavy Engineering Co. Ltd. (Former Secretary of Bangladesh Govt.), Mr. M.A Hassan, Technical Director, Mr. Mahbubul Matin, Finance Director ( now working as a Deputy Director of World Bank) were present among other members.

Dr. K. Maeda, President and Mr. K. Tomosoda, Director of Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (MES) are entertaining Mr. K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman and his family at a very special Japanese Restaurant in Tokyo, Japan in 1981, following the inauguration of their Joint Venture project in Bangladesh. Mrs. Maeda and Mrs. Tomosoda were also present. Mr. Rahman’s little daughter ‘SAIMA’ and Mr. Faruque of Highspeed Group are also seen on the occasion

Mr. K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman, Chairman, Highspeed Group and Mrs. Farzana Rahman are seen with H.E. Mr. Masayuki Inoue, Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh and Mr. M. Morshed Khan, former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh at a reception at Sonargaon Pan Pacific Hotel in 2008.
It may be mentioned that Highspeed Group established the first Joint Venture Company with Mitsui Zosen of Japan in 1977. Highspeed Group also represents MOL of Japan, World’s largest Shipping Lines. Mr. K.M.M. Rahman worked hard to develop Joint Venture Companies with large Japanese Multinationals in multifarious fields over last 3 decades and thus contributed significantly in strengthening the economic ties of our two friendly countries i.e. Japan and Bangladesh.

Mr. K.M. Mahmood ur Rahman, Chairman, Highspeed Group of Companies & Member E.C., Treasurer and convenor of the Industrial Committee of FBCCI at the Fourth Meeting of Bangladesh- Japan Joint Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation held on 6-7 February, 1989 at Hotel Sonargaon. The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr. Moudud Ahmed, Commerce Minister Mr. M.A. Sattar & President, FBCCI, Mr. Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury and from Japanese side Mr. Kikuo Ikeda the Leader of the visiting delegation & Japanese Ambassador H. E. Mr. Takeo Lguchi

Dr. M. Akita (Member of Parliament of Japan and President of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Society) who visited Bangladesh as a special envoy of Japan is seen being honoured with  gifts by K M Mahmoodur  Rahman, Chairman, Highspeed Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd during his visit of the  Highspeed Shipbuilding &  Engineering Co. Ltd. in 1984 following   inauguration of the Highspeed Shipyard, a Joint Venture Complex.
